Invisible City
(If interested in purchasing a copy, please get in touch with me directly.)
This is the second edition of my senior thesis book, Invisible City.
Over the span of my senior year of college, I documented the historic city of Greenbelt, MD. The government-funded planned community is one of three “Green Towns” created as part of President Roosevelt’s New Deal program. The towns represent a unique chapter in the history of American housing and suburban development, one in which the government wielded the power to experiment and innovate. The undeveloped suburban landscape was their playground, the “Green Towns” their dream.
This work examines the sentiments behind Greenbelt’s design and its implications for the future of suburban America.
This self-published book, printed by Mixam in Schaumburg, IL, was first printed in an edition of 5 copies for the accompanying exhibition at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at George Washington University.
The book is an 8.5 x 8.5 soft-cover and includes archival images sourced from the Library of Congress’s Works Progress Administration (WPA) image collection, as well as my contemporary photos.
